Find the Right Way Forward

A Different Approach to Education

Not every young person thrives within conventional education.

Some are bright, capable and ready to move faster. Others have lost confidence, become disengaged or need an approach that better understands their SEN or SEMH needs.

At Holford House, we start with the individual.

We combine high-quality education with mentoring and coaching because we believe that confidence is the foundation

of achievement.

When a young person feels understood, capable and secure, they are far more able to learn, accept challenge and recognise their own potential.

How we can help

Different young people need different things at different points in their education. Holford House offers four distinct pathways, from academic development and educational planning to targeted intervention and fully individualised provision.

NAVIGATE

Personalised tuition and academic acceleration, strengthened by mentoring.

For young people who want to build confidence, strengthen their learning or go further academically.

NAVIGATE combines high-quality individual tuition with relationship-led mentoring, allowing us to work not only on what a young person is learning, but on the confidence, independence and self-belief that underpin achievement.

For bright and able learners, NAVIGATE can also provide greater challenge and academic acceleration — moving at a pace that reflects the young person's ability rather than the limitations of a conventional timetable.

COMPASS

Clear direction when you're unsure what should happen next.

For parents and families trying to make sense of a young person's education, needs or available options.

COMPASS provides experienced, independent educational guidance to help you understand the situation, identify priorities and consider a realistic way forward.

This may include reviewing existing information, discussing SEN or SEMH needs, exploring school or alternative provision options, and helping families understand processes including EHCPs, EOTAS and Section 19.

Sometimes you don't need another intervention. You need someone experienced to look at the whole picture and help you find your bearings.

RESET

For the young person who's stuck.

A focused intervention for young people who have become disengaged, overwhelmed or unable to move forward within their current educational situation.  RESET creates space to understand what is happening, build a trusted relationship, identify barriers and begin rebuilding confidence and engagement.   Education, mentoring and coaching can be combined around the individual, with the aim of establishing a clearer and more sustainable way forward.  Typical duration - 6 weeks.

PASSAGE

A different route through education. Never a lesser one.

Individualised education for young people whose needs are better met outside a conventional school timetable.

PASSAGE provides bespoke education that can form part of EOTAS, Section 19 or other individually commissioned arrangements.

Academic learning is combined with mentoring and personal development, creating an education around the young person's needs, abilities and aspirations rather than expecting the young person to fit an existing model.  Support for the young person and the adults supporting them.

Why Holford House?

Holford House grew from more than 20 years of working with young people and seeing, time and again, that ability is rarely the whole story.

A bright young person can have enormous academic potential and still struggle to thrive in education. Confidence can disappear. Anxiety can take over. Additional needs can be misunderstood. A young person who once enjoyed learning can gradually become disengaged, overwhelmed or convinced that they simply aren't good at it.

Yet, with the right approach, things can change remarkably quickly.

At Holford House, we believe that confidence is the foundation of achievement. When a young person feels understood, capable and secure, they are far more able to learn, take risks, accept challenge and recognise what they can achieve.

Our approach brings together over two decades of experience in education, Qualified Teacher Status and life coaching, alongside extensive work with SEN, SEMH, alternative provision and young people whose educational journey has

not been straightforward.

We also understand the system around the child. With experience of EHCP processes, EOTAS and Section 19 provision across Local Authorities throughout the Midlands, Holford House can support families not only with learning, but with understanding what a meaningful educational pathway

could look like.

For some young people, that means rebuilding confidence and reconnecting with education.

For others, it means academic acceleration — providing the challenge, pace and individual attention a bright learner needs

to fulfil their potential.  And sometimes it means creating a completely different route.

Because a different route through education should never mean a lesser one.

That is the thinking behind Holford House: individual education, strong relationships, high expectations and steady guidance towards a future that reflects what each young person is genuinely capable of.

"Thank you so much for supporting A and showing him there are some teachers in the world who do 'get him', and care.  Knowing A has you in his corner provides so much reassurance, and I am so grateful knowing you genuinely want what's best for him. A huge thank you and we hope you know how appreciated you are".

"Sharon has proved to be invaluable for my son’s learning and the difference she made with him in a few weeks is amazing! He actually even enjoys chemistry now!! Sharon engaged effortlessly with my teenage son and used different methods and techniques to keep his interest. Would definitely recommend."

NAVIGATE package

Laura Y, Tamworth

"Highly recommended! Sharon has been amazing throughout my sons education. He was told he would fail high school and nearly lost his future due to being failed by the education system. However Sharon rescued him! In 7 months he blossomed and has come away with 9 qualifications! We can not thank Sharon enough for all she has done for him. Forever in our debt. Thank you for being so amazing and for being the person that you are!"

SARAH A, Burton upon Trent

"Sharon supported my daughter with her application for university. Almost instantly she was offered places at both her choices, and will now be off to her first choice in September. We both can’t thank Sharon enough, you’re an absolute star."

COMPASS - 2 hours

MAndy r, Derby

"Our son hadn’t completed a full week of education anywhere when he met Sharon at the beginning of year 10. We were losing hope. Sharon quickly built trust with C and he felt confident enough to ‘have a go’. By the end of year 11 he had an armful of qualifications and a place at college! Sharon has continued to stay in touch, and I know she is one of the few people he trusts. Thank you."

"I never learned anything until Sharon started teaching me."

Jay W, Atherstone

"Sharon is one of the best teachers I’ve had the pleasure of being taught by: she makes every task engaging and interesting, and makes sure everything is fully understood before moving on. Sharon was also someone I could talk to about anything, and she would give me the best advice possible."

Corey S, Burton upon Trent

"Sharon has been absolutely amazing. She has supported my son, and us as parents, with couple of school “issues” and got us results! Sharon has kept my son motivated and helped to keep him on the right path to sort his future. The total bonus is my son relates and communicates with Sharon, and enjoys her advice & guidance. I don’t think that without Sharon we would have been on the route we are today. Thank you Sharon for your wonderful continued support, and help and understanding."

COMPASS - 4 hours

"An amazing service with a lady that really knows her stuff, with a caring and professional approach. I don’t know what I would’ve done without Sharon. she was there to guide, help and advise me with my son’s appeal for a specialist SEN school, when mainstream could no longer cope with him. I was offered support throughout the tribunal process too, and my appeal application was so brilliant, that in the end we did not have to go to court!!  My son is now in an independent specialist school for ASD and behavioural problems. Thanks again. Highly recommend."
