After more than 20 years working in education, I’ve learned that there is no such thing as a child who simply “doesn’t fit”. But there are children and young people who don’t fit neatly into the systems we have created for them. I’ve worked with incredibly bright young people who were capable of achieving far more academically than anyone around them realised. I’ve worked with young people with SEN and SEMH needs who had gradually come to believe that they were the problem.
